Our Story

The story of Meadow Cosmetics is deeply rooted in the rhythm and purity of nature.

It all began in the home kitchen of our founder, Ida Sinisalo-Peltonen, where she started making natural cosmetics for herself and her friends. From the outset, she was guided by a strong principle: cosmetics should be so pure that you could even eat them. Ida's goal has always been to use only pure ingredients, produced as locally as possible, with fully traceable origins – "from field to jar."

The passion for pure cosmetics gradually grew.

Ida developed all the recipes and products, but the journey would have been incomplete without the important people by her side. A pivotal moment came when Ida's close friend and the godfather of her firstborn became so deeply enamored with the products that he wanted to share this discovery with others. This is how Meadow Cosmetics was born – not just another cosmetics brand, but an entire philosophy advocating for pure skincare.

We have created a unique connection with meadows.

For us, meadows are not just a source of raw materials, but a living ecosystem where bees, flowers, and cows thrive on healthy soil in natural balance. Everything starts with organic raw materials that not only care for your skin but also support the well-being of our entire environment.

Tallow is one of our most precious treasures.

The reason is simple: the oils in tallow remarkably resemble our skin's own oils. We use only fat from grass-fed cows, which would otherwise go unused as a byproduct of meat production. This is a perfect example of how we can use nature's bounty wisely and responsibly.

Grazing cows do invaluable work for nature.

Cows maintain soil fertility, support diverse plant species, and create important habitats for pollinators. Cow manure naturally enriches the soil, promoting plant growth and sequestering carbon in the ground. This creates a beautiful cycle where every part supports the other.

Meadow flowers and herbs are precious treasures to us.

Flowers and herbs bring their beauty to the world – and we truly need that. In our products, the scent and hues of flowers remain vibrant long after autumn. We gently extract flowers and herbs so that their beneficial properties and aromas remain authentic and lively. This gentle method is also environmentally friendly: we only need a fraction of the plant material typically used to produce essential oils.

Without bees, we would have nothing.

No thriving meadows, no seed-producing plants, no rich biodiversity. The work of bees affects the entire living world, as so many animals and we humans depend on pollinated plants. Bees also produce honey and wax beyond their own needs, and we use these gifts of nature in our products with the respect they deserve.
